Heat Treating: Another example of listening to our customers
and meeting their needs is Elm's ability to provide heat-treating
and zinc plating services under one roof. "One stop shopping"
provides customers the ability to reduce their supplier base, lead
times, and production costs, while increasing profitability.

6,000 lb/hr furnaces provide neutral hardening, oil quench and tempering
services on automotive and non-automotive threaded fasteners. Each
furnace is designed to handle fasteners sized between M6 and M32
up to 203 mm in length.
A
full service metallurgical and physical testing laboratory provides
hardness and tensile testing with certification in accordance with
industry and customer requirements before shipping.
Zinc
Plating: The heart of Elm's operation is zinc plating. All lines
have internal computerized process control to ensure consistency,
uniform results, and are monitored by technicians to assure systems
are operating properly. Optional mechanical sorting ensures that
end-product delivery meets the customers standards. Equipment capabilities
permit selection of plating thickness, cleaning styles, baking and
post treatments (clear, yellow, olive drab, black, wax, lube, torque
tension fluids and seals). Currently plating lines produce over
450,000 pounds per day.
Anodizing:
General Motors and Chrysler approved Rack Anodizing offers a
variety of process capabilities and services that include Type II
and Type III Hardcoat, military and commercial specs.
Computerized Process Control: To ensure consistency and uniformity
with high volume production and long plating runs, Elm Plating maintains
state-of-the-art automated process control. In - process controls
are checked by specialized technicians, include logging data such
as pH, temperature and chemical additions, chromate, acid, and cleaner
concentrations. Through computer automation, monitored regularly
by skilled technicians, Elm is able to guarantee quality in both
long run and small volume production.
Training: Elm Plating's commitment to continuous improvement
includes on the job and classroom training for Elm's technicians,
operators and key personnel. This commitment to training enables
Elm to provide services using the latest procedures and technologies
accepted in the industry. Elm's employees participate in educational
sessions provided by industry specialist as well as in-house training
coursed on a continuous basis.
Trucking
/ Delivery: Elm Plating employs a fleet to trucks to provide
pick up and delivery. Servicing the tri-state area of Michigan,
Indiana, and Ohio but with viewing the entire Midwest as
Elm's natural market Elm is committed to "Just in Time"
delivery.
